IN THE HUDDLE (Part I)

By Erin Throneberry

New faces, old faces, a New Year!  Welcome to all practice all the time!  And don’t forget the team lifts…

What happened to the days when we could lift a little, practice a little and WATCH a lot of football to learn?  Now that the college season is over and the same is almost true for the NFL season we need to concentrate on our own task at hand.  Our season starts April 19 (not too far off) against Indianapolis.  It will be our first test to see how what we have learned will play out for real.  It is our chance to show our opponents we’re here and we are going to hit hard and fight even harder.

My New Year’s resolution for the team has yet to kick in; I have yet to make it to a practice.  “I’ll be back!”  Think Schwarzenegger…  I want to be back.  I enjoy learning along with everyone else.  I love watching the development of new players who are unsure of themselves.  Watching the veterans hone their skills takes a keen eye, but it is noticeable.  The sure hands, the footwork, the passes, the catches, the blocking…do we really have to wait 2 ½ more months for it ALL to start?

The excitement is growing and the skills are building.  This is going to be an incredible season, and I, for one, cannot wait!

SPITFIRE!
