PLAYER SPOTLIGHT

Andrea Elliott

February 2, 2008 - Andrea hasn’t played sports since “softball as a little kid.”  She is enjoying her exciting new experience.  Her biggest challenge in playing football is staying focused.  Being an Eastern Michigan University Police Officer, she has worked on multitasking and is trying to bring those skills to her game.

As she receives the ball she is concentrating on being focused, looking the ball in and having faith she can catch the ball if her hands are positioned correctly.  It’s a lot to keep track of and Andrea is confident she will put it all together and “get it” as a player.

Andrea is a spoiled girlfriend and very happy in her relationship with her boyfriend, who helps her practice.  She is also a proud “mother” to one dog and two cats.  They are all rescue animals.  Speaking of rescues, Andrea went on a ‘big cat’ rescue in Costa Rica during which one of her proudest moments happened: she was sprayed by a Jaguar.

Andrea has “done an admirable job” working on drills and learning the game, claims Coach Val.  Andrea is a bona fide rookie who says her favorite football moment was when she started feeling like a football player during practice.  Her major football accomplishment is “learning how to catch and throw the darned thing.”
