Who Had the Passion?

By: Deb Wallace

ROSSFORD, OH - In this game it was the Pittsburgh Passion as they defeated the Spitfire 53-0. The Spitfire did play a good game, but the Passion was the stronger team on the field. The defense played hard with good performances by Denise Thompson and Amanda Thames. Mandie Robinson and Thames each collected a sack in the game, with Robinson’s being for a ten yard loss. Heather Inderrieden and Amy Wilkins also made some good plays on defense. On special teams, Wilkins was the most active on kickoff returns with four of them for a total of 45 yards. Inderrieden, Thompson and Jessie Torda also had at least one kickoff return in the game. Joy Youster averaged just over seventeen yards per punt, and had a quiet night on defense. Offensively, Torda and Kentrah Smith had the most action carrying the ball. Cathy Yungmann and Sue Nuesmeyer both tried to get a passing game going, but the Passion defense was just too tough. The Spitfire put in a great effort, especially since this was the last home game of the season.

Notes: The Spitfire have two more games left in the season. They are on the road in Columbus and in Erie, PA. More information on the team can be found www.toledospitfire.com.
