Spitfire Lose Tough Game
By: Deb Wallace
June 10, 2006 - ROSSFORD, OH - The
Toledo Spitfire took on the West Michigan Mayhem for the second time this
season. The Spitfire were ready to play, but the Mayhem came out on top with
a final score of 46-0.
Cindy Hasselbring and Olivia Griswold both saw
time at quarterback, and each had some success in moving the ball down the
field, but the Mayhem defense proved to be too much throughout the game. The
Spitfire defense saw some good play from Sarah Dowd, Denise Thompson, Jessie
Torda-Holmes who had the lone interception of the game, and Amanda Thames
had the only sack for the Spitfire. The special teams did their part again
by allowing the Mayhem only 20 yards on returns while getting 42 yards for
the Spitfire.
The Spitfire play their last game of the
season in Erie, PA against the Illusion on Saturday June 17th.
