Tree Town Spitfire Downed in Thriller

WAUWATOSA, WI, May 5, 2007 - The Tree Town Spitfire (1-2) came out on the wrong end of a 13-6 thriller against the Milwaukee Momentum (1-2) at Charles Hart Field.

The Spitfire trailed 13-0 to begin the second half when the Leilani Russell recovered a Milwaukee fumble forced by Liz Downs to end the half's first possession. Two plays later Holly Horodeczny caught a 15 yard touchdown pass from Cathy Yungmann, cutting the lead to 13-6.

As time ticked away, Jessie Cole and Octavia Griswold led the offense to the Momentum's 2 yard line before an unblocked linebacker blitz forced a fumble recovered by Milwaukee to effectively end the game.

Cornerback Rebecca Cunningham intercepted one pass and recovered a fumble in her first action since sustaining a concussion two weeks earlier while Sarah Sharpe led the Spitfire defense with 12 tackles.

The next Spitfire game will be at Pioneer High School on May 12 versus the Fort Wayne Flash (1-2).  General admission tickets are available online and at the gate: $10 for adults; $7 for students and seniors; no admission charge for children aged 5 years and under.
