CINCINNATI, OH – The Toledo Spitfire faced off against the
Cincinnati Sizzle for the second of two times this season. When the Sizzle
played in Toledo, they won 46-22. This time in Cincinnati, the Spitfire
played a better game and lost by a score of 27-14.
Offensively for the Spitfire, Jessie Torda-Holmes rushed the ball for 108
yards on 18 carries. Olivia Griswold completed one pass to Erin Crabtree for
26 yards and had an 8 yard carry for the first Spitfire touchdown. Cindy
Hasselbring did see some action late in the game and was successful in
moving the ball down the field. On the defensive side of the ball, Sarah
Dowd had a fantastic night getting in on many tackles and in some cases
making hard enough hits to stun the Cincinnati players. Denise Thompson,
Amanda Thames and Sandra Bowen also did well defensively. Special teams had
another great game with 89 yards from kick off returns and allowing only 13
return yards total. Kentrah Smith had the most yards with 67.
