Ann Arbor, MI, May 12, 2007
– Leilani Russell scored two defensive touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough as
the Fort Wayne Flash (2-2) defeated the Spitfire (1-3) 16-14 at Pioneer High
School’s Hollway Field.
Late in the
first quarter, Russell snagged a pass deflected by Sarah Sharpe before
sprinting 96 yards for the first score of the game. Russell struck again in
the fourth quarter by returning a recovered Flash fumble 83 yards to give
the Spitfire a chance to tie the game at 16, but Jamie Combs was unable to
cross the goal line on the two-point conversion try.
The next
Spitfire game will be at Pioneer High School on May 19 versus the Milwaukee
Momentum (1-3). General admission tickets are available online and at the
gate: $10 for adults; $7 for students and seniors; no admission charge for
children aged 5 years and under.
