Tree Town Spitfire Victorious in Debut
ANN ARBOR, MI, April
8, 2007 - The Tree Town Spitfire opened the 2007 National Women's
Football Association season with an overtime 6-0 victory over the Erie (PA)
Illusion at Pioneer High School's Hollway Field.
Weather conditions typical of early December gave ball handlers fits and
limited both teams' offensive play callers. Running back Jessie Cole
punctuated a strong performance in her first NWFA game with a ten yard
touchdown run to give the chilled but enthusiastic home crowd something to
celebrate.
We want to thank all the fans who braved the cold, snow, and wind to support
the Spitfire Saturday evening. It’s our privilege to play in Ann Arbor where
hardy football fans appreciate the game’s challenges and the efforts of
those who play it.
The Spitfire will travel to Kalamazoo April 21 to take on the West Michigan
Mayhem. Their next home appearance will be May 12 versus the Fort Wayne
Flash. General admission tickets are available online and at the gate: $10
for adults; $7 for students and seniors; no admission charge for children
aged 5 years and under.
