Spitfire Host Sizzle

April 29, 2006 - ROSSFORD, OH - The Toledo Spitfire played their second home game of the season against the Cincinnati Sizzle. In a game that was well played by both teams, the Sizzle came out on top, winning the game 46-22.

The first Spitfire touchdown was scored by Jessie (Torda) Holmes. Heather Inderrieden was on the receiving end of a 56 yard pass play from quarterback Olivia Griswold for the second Spitfire score. The final trip into the end zone for Toledo was on a 6 yard run by Toya Pettaway.

Defensively Denise Thompson led the team with 16 total tackles and Amanda Thames was second with 9. The Spitfire did have one interception on the night and it was made by Inderrieden about halfway through the second quarter. Special teams also had a good game with Sarah Dowd getting 101 total yards on 4 kick-offs. The receiving team had a total of 62 yards with Kentra Smith leading the way with 5 returns for 48 yards.

The Spitfire are on the road May 6th in Kalamazoo, MI to take on the West Michigan Mayhem. The next action at home for the Spitfire is an exhibition game against the Fort Wayne Flash on May 13th, start time TBA. More information about the team can be found at www.toledospitfire.com.
